CARIAD (fomerly CAZS-NR) is an internationally recognised centre for research in the fields of participatory crop improvement, renewable natural resources and environmental and landscape conservation. Much of the research is directed at farmer, community and policy levels, mainly in developing countries of Asia and Africa. During the early days of CAZS-NR, the research focused on arid and semi-arid areas, but in recent years the methodologies developed by our staff have been found to be relevant and transferable to many other agro-climatic zones in both developing and developed countries.
